Snowboard Resort Review Verbier Switzerland

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Verbier is a modern ski and snowboard town and is one of the most popular resorts in Switzerland. Verbier has a total of 412km of runs and 93 lifts, offering a vast array of snowboard terrain for all abilities of snowboarder. Verbier is part of the Four Valleys, the other 3 being Bruson, Thyon and Nendaz and you can purchase a single lift pass to cover all four resorts.

There is a large selection of ski and snowboard schools in Verbier, if it’s your first snowboard holiday then it’s probably best to avoid Verbier as it caters for the more intermediate and advanced snowboarder.  This is not to say that the snowboard instructors in Verbier will turn you away, they will obviously teach you just as if you were in any other resort, but the terrain may be slightly more challenging for someone who has never snowboarded before.

With regards to accommodation around the the resort of Verbier, there are various hotels, chalets and apartments scattered around. The nightlife in Verbier has a great reputation, with plenty of restaurants and bars for you to choose from, you can be sure to find somewhere to relax after a hard days riding on the slopes of Verbier.

Snowboard Resort Review Niederau Austria

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Niederau Snowboard Resort GondolaNiederau is a small snowboard village located in Austria.  It was one of the first snowboard resorts that I have ever been to and as a beginner/intermediate snowboarder, it was ideal.

The resort is quite small, with 10 lifts and 15 runs, 5 blue, 5 red and 5 black. Even though Niederau is a relatively small resort on its own, it is part of the Wildschönau Ski Area.  The Wildschönau Ski Area is made up of four villages, linked together by a free bus service. By purchasing the Kitzbüheler Alpen pass, you will have access to around 700km of runs.

One of the resorts included in the Kitzbüheler Alpen pass is Auffach which has a very good intermediate snowboard park, definitely worth checking out if your into your freestyle snowboarding.
